UpVoteIt ("we", "us", or "our") operates the UpVoteIt mobile application (the "App"), available on Android and iOS. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture URL from your Google account. We do not access your Google password.
1.2 User-Generated Content
Rankings, items, votes, and any images you upload are stored in our database (Google Cloud Firestore) and cloud storage (Firebase Storage). This content is necessary to provide the core features of the App.
1.3 Device & Usage Data
- Firebase Analytics — anonymous usage statistics (screens viewed, feature usage) to help us improve the App.
- Firebase Crashlytics — crash reports and diagnostic data to identify and fix bugs.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) — a device token used solely to deliver push notifications you have opted into.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To authenticate you and maintain your account.
- To create, store, and display rankings you create or participate in.
- To send push notifications about rankings you are involved in (new votes, invitations).
- To analyze usage patterns and improve the App.
- To detect and fix crashes and technical issues.
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Your data may be shared only in the following circumstances:
- Within rankings — your name and votes are visible to other participants of the same ranking, as required for the App to function.
- Service providers — we use Google Cloud / Firebase infrastructure to store and process data. Google's privacy practices are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- Legal obligations — we may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.
4. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data and associated content within 30 days. Anonymous, aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely.
5. Data Security
Your data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure, which provides industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit and at rest. Access to our database is protected by Firebase Security Rules that ensure users can only read and write data they are authorized to access.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data — your rankings, votes, and profile information are visible in the App.
- Delete your account and all associated data — visit our Account Deletion page or contact us at upvoteitapp@gmail.com.
- Withdraw consent — you may stop using the App at any time and request account deletion.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, we will delete that information promptly.
